I live in Alberta and am behind with my credit card payments, can my creditors garnish my wage without I know about it in advance or do they have to take me to court first? Thanks in advance

In order for your credit card grantors to garnish your wages, they first need to take some legal action which would allow them to receive court authority for garnishment. When creditors commence legal action, they are to serve you with the appropriate documents to notify you, however if they don’t have the proper contact information or have not been updated they may not be able to make you aware of their proceedings.
