Filing for bankruptcy while in a proposal

In Anonymous Q & A, Bankruptcy, Consumer Proposals, Locations, Thompson by Questions1 Comment

I started a consumer proposal several months ago, payments were going ok at first, but it is getting difficult to pay since child support payments have not been coming in… Is it possible to file for bankruptcy? If so, what happens to payments that I made into the proposal?

If you feel that you cannot continue the consumer proposal you can file an Assignment in bankruptcy. Any payments that have been made under the proposal will cover the costs of the administration of the proposal and the balance will be distributed to the creditors.
