Once you’ve start a Consumer Proposal can you add another debt?

In Anonymous Q & A, Brampton, Consumer Proposals, Ontario by Gareth Slocombe, CA | Trustee | CIRP1 Comment

My question is if you are half way through your proposal and you inquire a debt no fault of your own never less its yours can it be added on or does it cause problems? I don’t want this to interfere with my proposal as I have never missed a payment and have done everything right than this. I pay $200 a month and I think my amount was around $45000.? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank You

Debts incurred after the filing date of a proposal are post proposal debts and can not be included in the proposal. Your only options would be to either file a new proposal under Division I of the Bankruptcy & Insolvency Act or file for bankruptcy if the additional debt is unmanageable.
